How it started.
Blue Ribbon Estate Buyers was founded in 1973 with a simple but unusual idea: instead of waiting for customers to come to us, we would go to them.
At a time when selling jewelry meant walking into a shop and hoping the owner was honest, we believed Americans deserved better — a buyer they could meet in their own community, who would take the time to explain every appraisal and make a fair offer without pressure.

So we started traveling. We set up at local hotels and event venues and invited residents to bring whatever they had. Word spread. People came back. They sent their friends, siblings and neighbors.

Today, Blue Ribbon Estate Buyers is one of the most experienced traveling jewelry buyers in the United States. Our team has appraised hundreds of thousands of pieces from coast to coast — from single gold rings to entire multi-generation estate collections.
Fifty years of growth.
Harry Gordon establishes Western Coin Exchange, specializing in rare American and European gold coins.
Harry makes his first buying trip to Switzerland and Western Europe. Over the next 15 years, Harry and later his son Jonathan make 100+ trips to Europe, importing more than $100 million in rare U.S. gold coins.
Western Coin Exchange opens an office in Westwood, Los Angeles.
The company becomes Numismatics, Ltd. and relocates to Beverly Hills, California.
Harry’s son, Jonathan Gordon, joins the family business part-time while still in school.
Jonathan joins Numismatics, Ltd. full-time.
Jonathan becomes a Life Member of the American Numismatic Association.
Numismatics, Ltd. becomes an authorized distributor of the 1984 U.S. Olympic Coins, generating more than $15 million in sales for the U.S. Mint and U.S. Olympic Committee.
Jonathan expands into the estate-buying business, developing expertise in antique and vintage jewelry, fine watches, and estate valuables.
Blue Bonnet Rarities LLC, parent company of Blue Ribbon Rarities and Blue Ribbon Estate Buyers, is established and earns an A+ BBB accreditation, maintained continuously ever since.
The company relocates to New York City’s Diamond District, and Jonathan’s son, Harrison Gordon, joins the business—marking the family’s third generation.
Today, we conduct approximately 240 buying events annually throughout the United States and are trusted by thousands of customers.
